CT Senate GOP Statement on Arrest of Illegal Alien in Danbury Convicted of Supporting Terrorist Organization

Sen. Rob Sampson, Sen. Eric Berthel and Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement regarding federal immigration enforcement officials reporting the arrest of a Sudanese illegal alien in Danbury whose criminal history includes convictions for attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and false statements.

“Good. We thank and commend ICE.

The arrestee’s criminal history includes convictions for attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

Here is where we Republicans once again remind the public that Connecticut Democrats prohibit local and state law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities for violent crimes — even terrorism.

State law must be changed. Democrats and Gov. Lamont have no appetite to do so.”
