CT Senate GOP on Illegal Alien Accused of Injuring Troopers: “Exhibit A as to why CT law must be changed.”
July 16, 2025

For Immediate Release
Sen. Ryan Fazio, Sen. Heather Somers, Sen. Rob Sampson, Sen. Henri Martin, Sen. John A. Kissel, Sen. Jason Perillo, Sen. Jeff Gordon, Sen. Eric Berthel, Sen. Paul Cicarella and Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement regarding the revelation that the person accused of injuring two state troopers in a crash in Enfield is an illegal alien.
“Connecticut is a ‘super sanctuary’ state. That’s because Connecticut Democrats prohibit local and state law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities for violent crimes – even terrorism.
Now we learn that the person who nearly killed our state troopers is here illegally. But under state law, Connecticut authorities are prohibited from turning him over to immigration authorities despite his arrest. On top of that, our taxpayers are forced to spend hundreds of millions subsidizing people in the country who are here illegally.
Democrats and Gov. Lamont: Here’s ‘Exhibit A’ as to why state law must be changed. Will you work with us to do so?
Republicans will continue to stand for law and order. Republicans will continue to stand with victims of crime, including our recently injured troopers, who are lucky to be alive today.”
