“Yet another reason to veto HB 5002.” Sen. Harding Statement Senate Dem Leadership’s “Irrational” Comment

Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding Senate Democrat leaders today describing opponents of controversial local zoning bill House Bill 5002 as “irrational.”

“Gov. Lamont: Senate Democrat leaders just gave you yet another reason to veto HB 5002.

They are in effect labeling their fellow Democrats at the State Capitol who voted against HB 5002 as ‘irrational’.

They are in effect labeling local elected Democrats across the state and the thousands of people who have emailed your office to express concerns as ‘irrational’.

And Gov. Lamont: In doing so, they are calling you ‘irrational’ as well.

Gov. Lamont: This is a bad bill. It’s unworkable. It takes away local control. It’s opposed by Democrats and Republicans. You yourself called parts of it ‘dumb’.

Gov. Lamont: By signing HB 5002, you will lose your leverage with far left Democrats.

Your leverage rests with your veto pen. Use it. Use your leverage now. You are the governor. Be decisive. Stand up for yourself – and for people across Connecticut.”
