Sens. Perillo and Cicarella Statement CT Police and Fire Union Negotiations
June 27, 2025

HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT – State Senator Jason Perillo (R-Shelton) and State Senator Paul Cicarella (R-North Haven) released the following statement supporting CT Police and Fire Union’s salary negotiations:
“I firmly stand with Connecticut’s police and firefighter union as they fight for fair pay that reflects the salaries of other officers across the state. The inequity is glaring and must be addressed. The CT police and fire union, which often includes state officers working on college campuses, at hospitals, with CT State agencies, and in other critical roles, are paid far less than Connecticut State Police and most town police and fire departments.
This disparity is not just unfair; it’s a disservice to the brave men and women who risk their lives to protect us every day. Underpaying those who keep us safe is reckless, and it’s a problem that cannot be ignored any longer. Connecticut deserves a police and fire service that is fully staffed, well-supported, and justly compensated. When we fail to invest in public safety, we all pay the price.”
