Sen. Martin Votes in Favor of Bill to Reduce Electricity Costs - CT Senate Republic

For Immediate Release

Sen. Henri Martin today issued the following statement after he voted in favor of bipartisan legislation to deliver $200 million in annual savings on electric bills. This savings package includes a $100 million reduction in public benefits charges and another $100 million cut to delivery and transmission costs. The bill now awaits a vote in the House of Representatives. (https://www.cga.ct.gov/2025/amd/S/pdf/2025SB-00004-R00SA-AMD.pdf)

“Ratepayers in Bristol and across Connecticut are begging for relief. For years, Senate Republicans and I have been offering common sense solutions to lower our outrageous electric bills.  This is a small, but positive step forward.  Our electric rates are still much too high.  That’s unacceptable. We must eliminate the public benefits charge. I will keep working to deliver much more relief for overburdened and frustrated consumers.”
