“Folded Like a Lawn Chair.” Sen. Harding Statement on CT Budget Bill
June 2, 2025

For Immediate Release
Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement regarding the state budget bill. (https://www.cga.ct.gov/2025/BA/PDF/2025HB-07287-R00-BA.PDF)
“Gimmicks. Tax hikes. Dead bills getting brought back to life.
That sums up this budget.
Yet again, Gov. Lamont has folded like a lawn chair to his fellow Democrats.
Amazingly, he even said he’s ‘proud’ to have caved yet again.
The once-‘sacrosanct’ state spending cap has been shredded. He’s proud of that? Working families and job creators are now set up for even more future tax hikes. He’s proud of that?
Fiscal moderation has officially left the State Capitol. The governor and Connecticut Democrats have succeeded in protecting government bureaucracy.
Senate Republicans will always defend the fiscal guardrails and defend Connecticut residents from tax hikes.”
