(attachment) “Is this a joke?” Sen. Harding Statement on Potential Special Session on Controversial HB 5002

Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding Gov. Ned Lamont considering calling lawmakers into a June special session to make revisions to a controversial local control bill (House Bill 5002) before he must sign or veto the legislation.

“Is this a joke?

We just wrapped up a five-month long legislative session.

Gov. Lamont now wants to haul every lawmaker back to the State Capitol for a late-June, taxpayer-funded special session?

Just veto it, governor.

Be decisive.

You are the governor.

Stop folding to Democrats like a lawn chair.”
