Sens. Sampson & Harding Applaud “Just-Cause” Eviction Bill’s Failure to Advance

Sen. Rob Sampson and Sen. Stephen Harding today applauded the news that majority Democrats will not move forward with controversial “just-cause” eviction legislation during the 2025 legislative session. “Connecticut already faces a housing crisis, and further government interference between housing providers and tenants will only make the situation worse.

For years, majority Democrats on the Housing Committee have pushed this damaging legislation. We are pleased that our efforts to educate both them and the public about its consequences have been successful.

We will continue to advocate for policies which encourage more housing providers in the state.

This will increase supply and, in turn, make housing more attainable and affordable for more people in Connecticut.”
