Sen. Gordon Pushes for More Support for Our State Police
May 14, 2025

HARTFORD, CT – Senator Gordon (R-Woodstock), a member of the Public Safety & Security and the Appropriations Committee, released the following statement today in reference to his vote in support of a new contract aimed at increasing salaries and benefits for the Connecticut State Police.
“I am a strong supporter of the CT State Police,” said Sen. Gordon. “They perform a uniquely demanding role in our state government. They put their lives on the line every day for our communities, and in the most tragic cases, they make the ultimate sacrifice. We must ensure they receive the support and resources they deserve.”
The legislation, backed by the State Police Union, seeks to address staffing shortages, recruitment, and improve officer retention by enhancing compensation and benefits. It has received support in the legislature. Sen. Gordon emphasized that while the contract is an important step forward, continued efforts are needed to provide long-term support for the State Police.
“My Senate Republican colleagues and I have reviewed this contract thoroughly, and we believe it represents a necessary investment in public safety. I am proud to support it and confident it will pass with strong backing from both parties.”
As a representative of a predominantly rural district, Sen. Gordon expressed appreciation for Troops C and D, which serve many of the towns in his area, including some towns that have Resident Troopers.
“I can never fully thank the brave men and women of the Connecticut State Police for the work they do to keep our families safe. But what I can do is stand firmly behind them, and that’s exactly what I will continue to do as a Senator.”
