Sen. Fazio Host a Conversation about Affordability in CT - CT Senate Republic

STRATFORD, CONNECTICUT – State Senators Jason Perillo (R-Shelton) and Ryan Fazio (R-Greenwich) hosted CT Senate Republicans’ statewide affordability tour yesterday in Stratford with Representative Ben McGorty (R-Shelton).

As part of the Connecticut Senate Republicans ongoing “Cost-of-Living Crisis: Common Sense Solutions” tour, the event discussed root causes of Connecticut’s high electric rates, presented policy solutions aimed at reducing energy costs, and provided constituents an opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with their elected officials on these critical issues.

Sen. Perillo said, “We’re committed to offering real solutions that make life more affordable. Our plan focuses on energy reforms that cut costs, increase transparency, and strengthen reliability. By working together and hearing directly from our communities, we can push for reforms that bring meaningful relief to ratepayers across the state.”

“Residents deserve answers and action. That’s what this town hall and all the others across the state that we will be hosting are about,” said Sen. Fazio. “We’re proposing reforms that include cutting the public benefits tax, increasing affordable energy options, competition to benefit consumers, and improving oversight of the utilities. We can do better, and the people of this state deserve better.”

“Families are feeling the pressure of rising energy costs, and they deserve more than just promises — they deserve action,” said Rep. McGorty. “We’re fighting for solutions that lower bills, hold utilities accountable, and ensure our energy system works for everyone. By listening to our communities and standing united, we can deliver real relief and build a more affordable future for Connecticut.”
