CT Senate GOP on DMHAS Audit
May 20, 2025

For Immediate Release
Sen. Heather Somers, Sen. Rob Sampson and Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement regarding the state’s audit of the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS). https://wp.cga.ct.gov/apa/wp-content/cgacustom/reports/Mental%20Health%20and%20Addiction%20Services,%20Department%20of_20250520_FY2021,2022.pdf
“Here we see yet another state government agency exhibiting a lack of internal controls on a wide range of issues that impact state taxpayers’ wallets.
We see yet another instance involving questions regarding state government purchasing cards made infamous by the $60 steak-buying former CSCU Chancellor.
Also disappointing: 11 of the 13 findings from the auditors are repeat findings.
In other words, their recommendations were not acted upon.
And that makes sense, especially with the continued lack of accountability on display – and labeled as ‘small ball’ – in state government.”
