For Immediate Release
The CT Senate Republican Caucus today issued the following statement after voting in favor of legislation expanding access to a state fund in order to support the families of first responders who are killed in the line of duty.
“Surviving families of first responders who lose their lives while performing their duties face enormous financial and emotional challenges. We are honored to show our support for our fallen heroes and their families.”
The legislation renames the fund as the “Fallen Hero Fund” and expands its availability to the families of EMTs, firefighters, and paramedics in addition to police officers who lose their lives while performing their duties. Surviving family members include spouses and dependent children.
