Sen. Fazio & Sen. Harding Statement on Consensus Revenue Forecast - CT Senate Republic

For Immediate Release

Sen. Ryan Fazio, Ranking Senator on the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement on the April 2025 consensus revenue forecast.  (https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/opm/bud-other-projects/reports/consensus_revenue/fy-2025/final_consensus_apr30_2025.pdf?rev=919322a0ce794edfad3fb4781b65724d&hash=CD92699B5494A0933950BE32F1858315

“What this report shows is that without question, the fiscal guardrails that Republicans fought to implement and preserve are working.

They are saving taxpayers billions and protecting against economic fluctuations.

They have helped to control state government spending. They are paying down on the state’s debt.

That’s why even the spirit of the fiscal guardrails must not be violated.

But under one-party Democrat rule, the guardrails are already being broken this year by the governor and legislature.

Budget gimmicks are back in style. So are job-killing future tax hikes.

For regular families and workers, this means fewer jobs and higher taxes in the future. That’s just not acceptable to us.”
