Senate GOP Statement on CT Mirror/ProPublica Investigation on Towing Laws

Government Oversight Committee ranking member Sen. Rob Sampson, General Law Committee ranking member Paul Cicarella and Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement regarding a CT Mirror/ProPublica investigation that revealed how CT’s towing laws have come to favor tow companies at the expense of mostly low-income residents.

“What this investigation has exposed is that consumers are not being properly protected and that the current system is unfair.

Fraud and abuse is allowed to fester under the current system.

Vulnerable residents are taken advantage of under the current system.

Our laws must be reformed in bipartisan fashion.”
