“Questions the world is asking.” CT Senate GOP seeks answers re: Waterbury man who was allegedly held captive 20 years - CT Senate Republic

For Immediate Release

Sen. Jason Perillo, Ranking Senator on the Committee on Children, Sen. Rob Sampson, Sen. Heather Somers and Sen. Stephen Harding today wrote to the governor urging him to pursue answers to key questions and concerns regarding the Waterbury man who was allegedly held captive for 20 years. (Letter here)

“We agree with your assessment of the horrifying child abuse situation in Waterbury which has made international news. We thank you for vowing to get to the bottom of what happened.

As you proceed in your investigation, we feel it is imperative to learn and understand what the schools knew and did and shared regarding this case. Is your administration gathering that information? What have you learned?

In addition, we feel it is imperative to learn from employees who were with DCF 20 years ago. Some may still be employed at DCF. Some may have changed jobs or retired. Is your administration taking steps to track down and communicate with these people? What have you learned?

We feel the state has an obligation to contact and interview these individuals who can help you to figure out what was done and what could have been done differently.

Thank you for leading this effort and please keep us apprised of action steps that you are taking in order to get much-needed answers to questions the world is asking.”
