“How is THIS justice?” CT Senate GOP Statement on Plea Deal in Trooper Pelletier Case
February 25, 2025

For Immediate Release
Sen. Stephen Harding, Sen. Rob Sampson, Sen. Henri Martin, Sen. Heather Somers and Sen. Paul Cicarella today issued the following statement regarding the man accused of hitting and killing state trooper Aaron Pelletier last year accepting a plea deal which will have him serve 18 years in prison.
“How is this justice?
Trooper Pelletier’s widow spoke in court against the plea agreement. She said the accused should be sentenced to 30 years in prison, not 18. Her voice wasn’t heard. Why?
And why does this keep happening to victims of crime in Connecticut?
Trooper Pelletier died while in service to the people of Connecticut. He made the ultimate sacrifice while doing his job and protecting the public. His dedication and courage will never be forgotten. And this unacceptable, lenient plea deal will not be forgotten either.”
