CT Senate GOP Statement Re: Road Rage Incident on I-84 in Southbury
February 11, 2025

Sen. Tony Hwang, Sen. Eric Berthel, Sen. Rob Sampson, and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding the Tuesday morning road rage incident on I-84 in the Southbury area:
“This level of reckless and violent behavior on our roads is absolutely unacceptable.
Our thoughts are with the victim of this senseless attack, and we are grateful for her safety.
We fully support law enforcement’s efforts to locate and hold the perpetrator accountable.
Connecticut must take stronger action to deter dangerous roadway behavior.
‘Road rage’ incidents are escalating, turning our highways into a lawless battleground.
It’s time to stiffen penalties for these violent crimes and ensure those who endanger lives face real consequences. Public safety demands it.”
