CT Senate GOP Statement on I-84 Road Rage Arrest

Sen. Tony Hwang, Sen. Eric Berthel, Sen. Rob Sampson and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding CT State Police arresting an individual after multiple road rage incidents on I-84 in Waterbury and a subsequent manhunt in Southington.

“We applaud this outstanding work by CT law enforcement.

What happened on I-84 was shocking to anyone who saw the video.

We thank law enforcement for working rapidly to address this lawlessness on our roads.

Our thoughts continue to be with the victims of this senseless attack, and we are grateful for their safety. We fully support law enforcement’s efforts to hold the perpetrator accountable.”

The lawmakers say CT must take stronger action to deter dangerous roadway behavior, including stiffening penalties for these violent crimes.
