CT Senate GOP: Governor is Right to Call Fiscal Guardrails “sacrosanct”

The CT Senate Republican Caucus today issued the following statement regarding the governor telling state business leaders he feels the state’s fiscal guardrails and spending cap are “sacrosanct” and that they should not be dismantled by majority Democrats.

“The governor is right. The smart bipartisan spending guardrails that Republicans insisted upon when the Senate was tied in 2017 must be maintained. They are serving Connecticut taxpayers well, helping to pay down our state’s credit card debt and delivering much-needed tax cuts. Dismantling the guardrails today will lead to tomorrow’s unaffordable tax increases on working and middle class families.”
