For Immediate Release

CT State Sen. Tony Hwang, Ranking Senator on the Connecticut General Assembly’s Insurance and Real Estate Committee, issued the following statement regarding an Emerson College poll which has found that a large number of young people support UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s alleged murderer, with 41 percent saying his alleged actions are “acceptable.”

“Shocking. For anyone to view this coldblooded execution as ‘acceptable’ is alarming.

Yes, we must make health care more affordable, more transparent, and more compassionate.

But violence is never ‘acceptable’.

Here in the ‘Insurance Capital of the World’, we continue extending prayers and sympathy to the Thompson family, to the UnitedHealthcare workforce, and to our entire state insurance industry which employs more than 63,500 workers.”
