October 23, 2024

FAIRFIELD – October 21, 2024 – Senator Tony Hwang proudly attended the grand opening of the new DMV Express site in Fairfield, a crucial step toward improving convenience and accessibility for Fairfield County residents. This initiative is designed to provide faster, more efficient DMV services, such as driver’s license renewals and vehicle registrations, at a convenient location.

Senator Hwang, who was present when the successful DMV Express program was initially implemented in 2015, highlighted its impact. However, the program was unfortunately discontinued in Fairfield County due to unresolved bureaucratic disagreements. “Thanks to the collaborative efforts of CT DMV Commissioner Tony Guerra and the new leadership at AAA Northeast, we were able to reach a win-win agreement that brings this much-needed service back to Fairfield County,” Hwang said.

Located at 1201 Kings Highway, the new site will reduce wait times and streamline services for residents, offering a more user-friendly experience. Governor Ned Lamont, who led the opening ceremony, emphasized the importance of enhancing state services for residents.

“We’re trying to make life a little more convenient for each and every one of you,” Governor Lamont said. “Now you can renew your license here, and that’s what this partnership with AAA is all about.”

Senator Hwang thanked the Department of Motor Vehicles and local officials for their commitment to this project and underscored the importance of continued investment in community resources to better serve residents.
