Sen. Hwang Statement on Armed Carjacking in Fairfield

October 28, 2024

Sen. Tony Hwang (R-Fairfield), the former co-chair of the legislature’s Public Safety and Security Committee, today issued the following statement regarding the armed carjacking in Fairfield.

“Thank God no one was harmed. Thank you to the Fairfield Police Department for remaining vigilant and keeping our community safe. Anyone who can help the investigation should contact the Fairfield P.D. at (203) 254-4800 or at www.fpdct.com/tips.

Time and again, I emphasize safety and holding lawbreakers accountable.

Yet, we have mayhem on our roads.

We all see it.

Speeding. Recklessness. Impairment. Violence.

People don’t feel safe, and for good reason.

As state senator, I will continue to push for legislation which empowers and adequately funds law enforcement while recruiting more officers. I will also push for reforms to strengthen our criminal penalties across the board in order to deter the lawlessness we see across Connecticut on a daily business.”
