Sen. Hwang Commends “remarkable team effort” to Restore Flood Damaged CT Transportation Infrastructure
October 18, 2024
Sen. Tony Hwang, Ranking Senator on the legislature’s Transportation Committee, issued the following statement regarding state transportation officials’ successful efforts to reopen key roadways and restore rail service since the historic Aug. 18 rain and severe flooding.
“Truly a remarkable team effort by our Connecticut Department of Transportation employees. Route 34 has reopened. Major bridge and road repairs throughout our communities have been completed with skill and efficiency. The damaged Waterbury Branch Line resumes service on Oct. 28 with the 4:45 a.m. train from Waterbury and the 7 a.m. train from Bridgeport.
Restoring this access and service so swiftly is wonderful news for commuters and area businesses. From DOT to Metro-North to our partners in the private sector who have been working tirelessly around the clock for the past two months: Thank you.”
