Sen. Gordon on Trump Assassination Attempt: “Sickening. Violence has no place in political discourse”

Sen. Jeff Gordon issued the following statement on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump:

“I join with the Connecticut Senate Republican Caucus in saying today is a sad and shocking day for our country, but it could have been far more tragic. I am relieved that former President Donald Trump is safe. I grieve for those who were injured or lost their lives. What we witnessed was an attempted assassination of a former President and it is sickening. The actions today put all of our country’s leaders at risk. Violence has no place in political discourse, no matter the setting, no matter the people involved. I hope that all my colleagues in the State Legislature join together to condemn this heinous and cowardly act. Thank you to the Secret Service and first responders for their brave and quick action.
