Sen. Gordon Warns Consumers of Suspected Energy Savings Mail Scam

Alerted CT PURA of postcard sent to consumers with message to “lower your electric bill immediately” through a supposed “grant program.”

State Sen. Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) today alerted consumers of a suspected energy “grant program” postcard mail scam that has arrived in consumers’ mailboxes in recent days with the promise to “lower your electric bill immediately.” Consumers should treat this postcard as a suspected scam.

The double-sided postcard cites Eversource’s upcoming rate hike in July and entices consumers to take part in a “free” solar energy conversion for their home by calling an 866-line, in addition to a $500 cash bonus for calling within 48 hours.

“Consumers should know that this postcard is a suspected scam. I have reached out to Eversource, PURA, and the Attorney General’s office to make them aware of the situation so that they can investigate,” said Sen. Gordon.
