CT Senate GOP Statement on School Contracting Law Change
June 7, 2024
Sen. Republican Leader Stephen Harding, Sen. Henri Martin, Ranking Senator on the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, Sen. Eric Berthel, Ranking Senator on the Education Committee today issued the following statement about the change to Connecticut’s school contracting law that allows companies that oversee local school construction sites to also bid on subcontracts for those public works projects.
“In light of the embarrassing, national news-making school construction bidding scandal, the State of Connecticut should be strengthening its rules, not relaxing them. Rolling back reforms sends exactly the wrong message. Senate Republicans will introduce legislation in the next session to change the law back to its prior form, and we appreciate the governor’s pledge to fix this.”
