Sen. Seminara cites “serious concerns” about
DCF lax monitoring and oversight
Sen. Lisa Seminara (R-Avon) today issued the following statement with regard to the Office of the Child Advocate’s investigation into 2-year-old Liam Rivera’s death which found that the Connecticut Department of Children and Families failed to follow procedures put in place to protect the boy after multiple documented incidents of abuse and neglect:
“This report citing poor oversight and numerous miscommunications at DCF raises serious concerns. As Ranking Senator on the Committee on Children, I intend to meet with the Child Advocate and DCF officials to discuss measures that we can pass on a bipartisan basis to improve monitoring at the department and prevent future tragedies. We must learn from this report, and we must act.”
