(photo) Seminara: Rx drug card program a good start; GOP continues to offer affordability solutions
September 14, 2023

For Immediate Release:
Sen. Lisa Seminara, Ranking Senator on the Human Services Committee and the Aging Committee, today issued the following statement in reaction to the announcement that a prescription drug discount card program will launch in Connecticut on Oct. 2, enabling all residents of the state to receive savings on certain prescription drugs.
“ ‘Unaffordable.’ That’s how people across Connecticut describe health care and prescription drug costs. They are absolutely right, of course. As an advocate for vulnerable people on fixed incomes and for low-income families, I am focused on doing all I can to get these unsustainable, budget-breaking costs under control. The prescription drug discount card program is a good start, and I enthusiastically voted for it. I was disappointed last week to see the Lamont administration approved yet another near-double-digit health insurance rate hike. Senate Republicans continue to offer solutions to lower the cost of health care for working and middle class families, and we hope the majority will join us in passing our ideas. There is a Better Way to Affordable Health Care. Read our plan here.”
