Sen. Kelly: Public Comment Period on EV Mandates Must be Extended

After the Lamont administration denied his request for today’s electric vehicle mandate hearing to be delayed by one week and held in-person with a remote option (see attached letter), Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly is requesting that the public comment period be extended. The current deadline for written comments to be submitted at [email protected] is Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 5 p.m.

“This hearing will undoubtedly raise new questions and concerns that these unelected state bureaucrats have not considered,” Sen. Kelly said. “In the interests of transparency and fairness, the administration must extend the deadline for the public to submit comments about these half-baked, costly regulations which have not been well thought-out or deliberated in public. This is an aggressive, extreme agenda that is created by unelected bureaucrats. It will radically change the way people are going to move around our state, cripple our electric grid, bankrupt small businesses, put thousands of people out of work, and make Connecticut even more unaffordable for low- and middle income residents. The people were denied an in-person public hearing by the administration. They should at least get more time to submit written comments.”
