Sen. Gordon Recognized by National Council of Physician Legislators - CT Senate Republic

State Sen. Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock), who is also a practicing oncologist and hematologist, was recognized by the National Council of Physician Legislators for his work on Senate Bill 6, a signature piece of legislation that streamlines the prior authorization process and prevents unnecessary “step therapy” treatments for patients.

Each year, the National Council of Physician Legislators identifies health care-related legislation introduced by physician legislators across the country. Senator Gordon, also a former president of the Connecticut State Medical Society, was Connecticut’s featured legislator because of his key role in bringing the voice of medical practitioners and patients to the legislative process. The underlying concept of the bill was ultimately adopted by the legislature in 2023 and became law.

“Thank you to the National Council of Physician Legislators for featuring this important work to ensure Connecticut residents receive timely care that’s appropriate for their unique medical condition. Equally important, it is an example of the good that can be done when we work together, regardless of political party. Thank you to Governor Lamont for enacting this measure, and to my colleagues on both sides for your collaborative spirit,” said Senator Gordon.
