Connecticut Senate and House Republican lawmakers are calling for a special legislative session focused on making Connecticut more affordable as residents struggle with rising inflation.
We must put tax dollars back in residents’ pockets at a time when they are in pain and facing historic burdens that are crushing family budgets.
Our $746 million relief plan includes:
- Lower 5% income tax rate to 4% for singles earning less than $75,000 and for couples below $175,000
- Dedicate $42.5 million for energy assistance for families in need
- Suspend diesel tax
- Sales tax cut from 6.35% to 5.99% and suspend prepared meals tax through end of the year
- Repeal highway use tax scheduled to take effect Jan. 1
