Sen. Kelly Responds to CT Democrats’ Budget Announcement
April 27, 2022

Kelly: “Inflation is crushing CT families now; they deserve far greater relief than Democrats are willing to give.”
HARTFORD – Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford) responded to CT Democratic legislative leaders announcing a budget adjustment deal with Governor Ned Lamont:
“The state is overtaxing its residents. Connecticut Democrats want to keep the money. That’s not right. Connecticut Democrats have the power to fix the financial burden facing our families. I am disappointed and underwhelmed by the delayed and limited tax relief proposed by Connecticut Democrats today. Connecticut Republicans proposed returning over $1 billion to taxpayers, more than double what Democrats are offering without making any changes to the budget and while also preserving our historic investments in paying down on the state’s unfunded liabilities. Meanwhile, the Democrats offer tax credits – meaning families have to pay more taxes before they get anything back over a year from now. This is not immediate relief. It’s not permanent relief either. Inflation is crushing CT families now; they deserve far greater relief than Democrats are willing to give.”
