2021 must be a better and brighter year.
December 31, 2020
Hello Friends,
Few of us are likely to be sad to see the end of 2020. This past year brought many uninvited changes into our world – the COVID-19 virus of course, but also the government’s sometimes imprudent response to it.
I’ve heard from many of you about the additional burdens you have faced this year. I was personally amazed to see many of you take on new challenges and find ways to still succeed. Many others were faced with obstacles beyond their own ability to correct. Some we were able to find solutions for and many, despite our best efforts, we were not. We have nearly all observed devastating losses – but hopefully have also witnessed a few miracles along the way. One thing is certain. This year taught many of us valuable lessons in identifying the things that really matter and are necessary in life.
2021 must be a better and brighter year.
I will return to the Senate even more outnumbered but I’ve never felt more certain about what our future direction must be. I am bolstered by the many of you who have contacted me in support of my efforts to defend our freedoms and preserve our American way of life, including our system of laws and justice.
There is much at stake this year. The massive state budget shortfall, public utility oversight and management, early voting, public safety/police reform, a public healthcare option, mandating vaccinations, and legalizing marijuana will all no doubt be debated.
As always, you will be able to count on me to fight for the interests of my constituents, to respect all views and all people, and to never waiver in defense of each of our individual and civil rights. Our state needs a new direction focused on making Connecticut more attractive and affordable to businesses and citizens. I have put together an agenda of items designed to do just that and will be sharing them with you in the coming weeks.
My prayers to you and your families for your health, safety, and much happiness in the new year. Don’t hesitate to call upon me at any time.
Most sincerely,
Senator Rob Sampson
