Sen. Rob Sampson on “Reopen CT”

April 28, 2020

Sen. Rob Sampson on “Reopen CT” - CT Senate Republic

“I want to reiterate my reservations from the first announcement of Reopen CT and the makeup of its membership.  The very fate of our state’s economy and public safety hang in the balance of the policies and the procedures (and their timing) we choose to move forward with.”

“Those policies should be created by the people who were elected to do so, not a panel of bureaucratic experts, particularly those who do not even reside in Connecticut.”

“The latest news of marathon zoom meetings with no public oversight gives rise to serious concerns about transparency and accountability.  There is a reason why the legislature’s business is done in public.”

“The need for such a panel is suspect to begin with but since it does exist, it must be subject to public scrutiny.  Experts are fine but, who exactly is representing the interests of the public on this panel?”

Senator Rob Sampson serves the 16th District which includes the towns of Cheshire, Prospect, Southington, Waterbury and Wolcott.
