“Damage control”: Sen. Harding on Gov’s Call for Camera Deployment Pause
August 7, 2026
Sen. Stephen Harding (R-Brookfield) issued the following statement regarding the governor’s call for municipalities to pause deploying automated license plate readers and surveillance cameras due to unanswered questions.
“Let the damage control begin.
Gov. Lamont signed this bill into law.
And he apparently did so despite having significant unanswered questions about it?
He signed it without knowing what type of technology would be deployed, where these cameras would be installed, and how the data would be used and shared?
He signed it, the toothpaste is out of the tube, and now he’s attempting to clean up the big mess.”
