CT Senate GOP Tries to Up Fines for Distracted Driving; Democrats Vote It Down - CT Senate Republic

The CT Senate Republican caucus today issued the following statement regarding majority Democrats voting down their proposal to increase fines for distracted driving and repeated distracted driving.

“In Connecticut, thousands of crashes are caused annually by distracted driving, resulting in preventable fatalities and injuries.

Connecticut Senate Republicans attempted to actually do something about it by proposing stiffer fines and criminal penalties for repeat offenders.

Majority Democrats had no appetite to change our laws. Without deterrents, the crashes and preventable tragedies will continue.”
